Our blessings continue…..
My friends and I had a “shop till you drop” day. We decided to take a break and have some lunch. Like most groups of women, we discussed what we wanted to eat, where we wanted to eat…..for quite a while. I drove past a restaurant where Jimmy and I have enjoyed breakfast and mentioned it also serves lunch. We discussed that option; continued to drive while discussing other options; got completely sidetracked from lunch; looked up the menu for several options; and circled back to the first restaurant. (I am sure this scenario sounds familiar to many of you-lol)
We parked the car and entered the restaurant only to realize it would be closing in 40 minutes. We asked if it was too late to be seated and were assured we could have lunch there.
Once we were seated, we noticed an elderly lady across the small restaurant eating her lunch alone. It was quickly determined we would buy her lunch and she would receive our “rock”. Since she was across the restaurant, her server was not our server. We motioned for her server to come to our table. We asked “Server Ann” (not her real name) if she would assist us in buying the lady’s lunch. Server Ann’s eyes lit up and she smiled, excitedly agreeing to bring us the lady’s bill.
We paid for her lunch, chose a bible verse, (Lamentations 3:22 the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end) and wrote it on the small receipt. We then asked Server Ann to anonymously deliver the slip and rock to the elderly lady.
We watched the elderly lady’s surprise and then pleasure as she realized her lunch had been purchased for her. She studied the rock and slip of paper, and with a smile, tucked both into her purse.
After the lady left the restaurant, Server Ann approached our table. She had a smile in her eyes as she shared with us: “I have recently experienced a really difficult time. I think I am finally through it now though. I have been praying to God to please show me there is still kindness and goodness in the world so to reestablish my faith in people. I think you all are an answer to that prayer”.
Was all of this random? A coincidence?………..of course not!
We had debated where to eat…..and decided on that restaurant. We had nearly gotten there too late…..but we were still able to be served. We had selected the elderly lady to be our recipient, which I believe was intended, but God also had an additional plan. Server Ann wasn’t our server, but yet we were destined to have contact with her through the elderly lady. There is no other explanation than Jesus had His own design…..extend kindness to the elderly lady and touch the heart of Server Ann with reassurance.
We will never know the full impact for either the lady or the server…..but I feel confident they and we were selected by God.
So excited to see what happens next!
