Have you ever hoped to bless someone else and received a bigger blessing yourself?
Jimmy and I have been in SC for just over a year now. I have settled in, am really happy, but have been missing the service work my friends and I did together in Owensboro, KY. I had been praying for God to use me, to show me a way to touch others, to guide me in sharing Him. I decided to purchase small rocks with the words “you are loved” written on them. My plan was to leave a rock with a scripture verse at restaurants or other places that seemed appropriate.
A few of my Owensboro friends came for a visit and it was only fitting to begin my new venture with them. It was the perfect opportunity to revisit our Anchors of Hope days together!
We went to dinner and decided the first “rock” should be left on the table with a scripture verse for our waitress. After our meal, we chose a verse, (John 16:27 For the Father himself loves you) I wrote it on the small receipt, placed the rock, and we left hoping to leave a blessing behind.
We had left the restaurant and wandered into the adjoining bakery to pick up yummy desserts. Our waitress came hustling into the bakery with her eyes searching the area. She spotted our group and approached us smiling. She expressed her gratitude saying, “no one has ever done anything like this for me before”. Her smile and her eyes were so sincere as she studied each of us.
Confirmation! Any doubt or hesitation I had about the new venture vanished. We were all so excited to share another “rock” the next day.
Spoiler alert – we have shared another rock and wow! that experience was even better! Jesus had his hand all over it! Stay tuned……..
