Be Still……..

August 30, 2023

Category: My Story

It was during my morning walk I took this photo.  I was so in awe of the beauty and colors.  Then the symbolism struck me…..it reminded me that every day is a new dawn and a new beginning.  One of my favorite scriptures came to mind…..Be still and know that I am God.  (Psalm 46:10)

I needed this reminder and reassurance.  Lately with all the turmoil and events unfolding in our world, it is difficult to not feel anxious, uncertain, and fearful; to not worry about what the future holds.  I want to turn away from the news because it is too hard to watch.  I feel myself tense as I read the headlines.  Often I have to remind myself to just close my eyes, breathe deeply, and be still.

Be still and rely on the promises of our God.

Be still knowing God goes before us.  (Deuteronomy 31:8)

Be still believing God is for us, who can be against us. (Romans 8:31)

Be still remembering God is our refuge and our strength.  (Psalm 46:1)

Be still and let the calm wash over our fears; be strong and courageous.  (Joshua 1:9)

Be still with the reassurance God hears our prayers.  (Mark 11:24)

Be still with confidence God knows everything about us and loves us anyway (lol) (Psalm 139:1-4)

Yes, there is turmoil in our world.  Yes, there are uncertainties in our individual lives.  Yes, we would love to “read ahead” and know how it all plays out.

But yet one thing is certain…..we have a big God who loves us, who has it all in His control…..all we need to do is Be Still and trust in His promises.
